náměstí Národního povstání

In the square, there are three historical objects: the Monument of the Killed in the Wars (bulit in 1934), the stone fountain (1843) and the statue of St. Wenceslas (1868). The house No.23 from 1891 is under the Care of Historical Monuments.

Račana

Several tiny old cottages and houses are gathered along the brook Řivnáč, you can find them in the east of the square. The name of this part of Svratka – Račana – is derived from the number of crayfish (raci) that the brook used to abound with. The timbered cottages were bulit as dwellings of small craftsmen and it is astonishing that they have been preserved up to now. Many of them are used for the purposes of relaxation and recreation.

Houbař

Not far from the main crossroads, in the Square of 9th May, there is a small statue of a Mushroom-picker (from 1938) standing on the fountain. The statue was given to the town as a gift by the Svratka native Antonín Odehnal.

sokolovna

The important building is the Sokolovna, built from 1927 to 1928, which has been repaired recently. Near the building there is a park, founded at the beginning of the fourties in the 20th century. In place of today´s tennis courts, the open-air gymnastic field of the Sokol used to be. Opposite the courts, there is the imposing Heřman´s villa from 1931, which had been originally built by the architect Horník for himself, but soon after finishing it was sold.
